Finland’s territorial waters and economic zone are divided into three planning areas, for which eight coastal regions have planning responsibility. The Åland Islands will also compile a maritime spatial plan for its region.
Continuously updated planning information on each area can be found on the websites of the planning areas.
Maritime spatial plans are strategic by nature. Their regional representation – the maritime spatial plan map – is constructed as a supplementary draft for the map service that opens on this site. The service also includes background maps and other geographic materials that are not part of the actual maritime spatial plan.
